IT Support Technician - £10 p/h (20hr week part-time) - home-based / Wilmslow / South Manchester

The Role

Alpha PC are looking for a talented and capable IT Support Technician to join their close-knit team and help the business expand. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for IT, can work flexibly using their own initiative and is willing to learn and grow with the company. As time passes, your role will develop and grow with the company in line with your ambition.

The role will mainly be home based and will also include training and occasional work in Wilmslow, Cheshire and occasional visits to customer sites. The successful candidate will have a home-office with room for a computer setup and free from distractions as the role will involve a good deal of telephone work. You will also be prepared to work flexible hours, and ideally have a full valid UK driver's licence.

The IT Support Technician role will involve the following and more:

1st and 2nd line IT support to a varied user base over telephone, email and remote desktop
Active Directory and Group Policy admin
Computer configuration, software installs, troubleshooting
Office 365 Administration
Setting up of new equipment including operating systems, email, networking, routers and printers
Domain/Email/DNS setup
Windows Server Installation/Maintenance/Troubleshooting
Server virtualisation using Hyper-V

Our services include computer and user support, windows sever installation and maintenance, management of hosting and email services, networking installation and configuration.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of an IT Support Technician:

Experience in 1st line IT support and general computer maintenance including OS installs and troubleshooting; basic familiarity with active directory; and some knowledge of routers and networking essential
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong telephone skills, able to break down complex technical issues to people with varying technological literacies
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, able to handle a varied workload

The following experience is also desirable:

Windows server administration
Office 365 administration
SharePoint administration
Website design
Hyper-V installation and configuration
Linux web server administration
Database administration
Routing and switching
