Job Location: Ferndown, Dorset

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: Excellent starting salary

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm & Friday 8:30am - 3:45pm 37.5 hours per week

A well-known and leading Manufacturing company who have been established over 50 years is looking to add an IT Support Engineer to their hardworking; busy and friendly team based at their offices in Ferndown.

This exciting and fast paced role will see you providing effective IT assistance across all aspects of the business and you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the server operating systems, troubleshooting complex issues by analysing root causes and evaluating options plus general maintenance of all IT-related hardware / software.

You will be working within a small friendly team and with a well-established company who really look after and value their staff by offering an excellent working environment, continued support and brilliant company benefits.

Within this varied and fast paced position some of your duties will include:
  • Being first point of contact for software and hardware support issues, logging calls on ticketing systems and providing resolution, escalating where required.
  • Troubleshooting complex issues by analysing root causes and evaluating options.
  • Performing routine monitoring of systems and software.
  • Configuring and maintaining servers and workstations (on & off-site).
  • Supporting and maintaining WAN / LAN network environment, including vlans.
  • Responsible for the organisation's software asset management.
  • Ensuring the security of data, network access and backup systems are protected and resilient.
  • Ensuring adequate antivirus protection and appropriate security solutions are maintained and updated.
  • Implementing and managing secure network access for remote users.
  • Maintaining, administering and developing the IT Infrastructure in line with business needs.
  • Maintaining and updating IT documentation, procedures and processes.

The successful applicant should possess:
  • Proven working experience providing IT Systems Administration.
  • Qualifications in Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or ITIL are advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Understanding of security and networking concepts, DNS, DHCP, remote access and VLANs.
  • Experience in MS Office 365 administration.
  • Well-organised, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to ensure a high level of service and quality is maintained
