Job Title: Management Accountant - 12 month fixed term contract
Site: Oldham

Core Hours: 08.30am - 16:30pm

Core Days: Monday - Friday. However due to the nature of the role you will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to your working hours.

The Role:

A complex operation delivering high levels of service for a number of household brands, our Oldham depot is a fast-paced 3PL warehousing and distribution site. As the successful candidate you will contribute to the overall success of the site, you will report directly to the Commercial Accounting Manager (based off-site) responsible for delivering Management Information to the General Manager, Finance, the Board and Customer. You will be responsible for the production of weekly and monthly Management Accounts for a number of site P&Ls. Working closely with operational teams, you will analyse the performance of the P&L, prepare budgets, forecasts and support in customer meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is a fantastic opportunity for a part/recently qualified (ACCA/CIMA) candidate who will be responsible for the management accounting of operational profit centres across the Company with combined turnover of c£8.5m. The key responsibilities for this role will include:
  • Manage the weekly production of costings for several profit centres within the site
  • Submit weekly costings and KPI information to Operations and Head Office
  • Creation and maintenance of accurate MI for the operational team
  • Produce monthly management accounts for all profit centres
  • Investigate and explain variances in the management accounts
  • Produce monthly review pack of financial and operational management information for discussion with customers at review meetings
  • Produce annual budgets and periodic reforecasts for all profit centres
  • Invoice and credit control customers and update Company cash forecast
  • Deal with site suppliers including self-billing subcontract hauliers on a weekly basis
  • Maintain accurate purchase ordering
  • Numerous ad-hoc reports and project tasks as required (from the Site General Manager / Commercial Accounting Manager)
  • Direct supervision of Finance Assistant.

Transferrable Skills:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Attention to detail and analytical approach.
  • Experienced in accounts preparation, including journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and income deferral.
  • Questioning and enquiring approach with a real desire to seek out new methods that will allow more efficient provision of accurate financial data.
  • Comfortable working individually and as part of a team, sharing knowledge and improvement ideas for the benefit of the Company and its staff.
  • Hard working and flexible, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Good communicator at all levels up to and including Operational Managers and Directors, customers, suppliers and other internal staff.
  • Expert in using IT, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to coach and mentor at different levels within the Company, to provide an understanding of finance to non -finance staff.
  • Willingness to learn about the Company and industry with a desire to excel and develop.
