Remit
Compass Associates are excited to be working with one of the leading providers of private mental health, learning disabilities and neurological services to headhunt for a full time Occupational Therapist.

This role is based at their specialist low secure hospital in Greater Manchester for adult males with a range of mental health conditions, learning disabilities substance misuse difficulties, personality disorders, challenging behaviours and forensic histories. All service users at this 20 bedded service are detained under the Mental Health Act and are profoundly deaf or have significant hearing impairments. The service is divided between a low secure ward, open ward and self-catered flats which provide a clear progression pathway.

Although the sole Occupational Therapist for the service, you will work closely with 4 x OTAs as well as the Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist, Clinical Lead, Social Worker, Specialist Nurses, Care/Support Staff and Interpreters. Treatment and therapy are delivered by staff trained in British Sign Language and those who are deaf awareness trained. There are specialist interpreters who are always on site and communication can be via BSL, Makaton, translation and written/visual methods.

The Candidate
The successful candidate must have:
A degree in Occupational Therapy
HCPC registration
Previous experience in mental health (essential)
Experience working with deaf clients or those with hearing impairments (desirable)
Training in British Sign Language (desirable)

One stage interview with the Hospital Director, Clinical Lead and Service User.
