Ecological Consultant - Hemel Hempstead

My client is one of the leading, multi-disciplinary consultancies that were established in the late 1980's and have grown to be one of the largest consultancies in the UK with an impressive 70 plus offices. They are currently having a broad expansion and are looking to take on an Ecological Consultant in their Hemel Hempstead office.

To successfully achieve this role, you will have:

* A degree in Ecology or a closely related subject

* Over 2 years professional experience working within a Consultancy

* Associate membership to either CIEEM or IEMA

* Extensive experience conducting protected species surveys

* The ability to undertake Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys at a high standard

* A working knowledge of wildlife and conservation legislation

* Excellent report writing, communication, and IT skills

* Experience of working on Environmental Impact Assessments

* A full UK driving license

It would also be beneficial if you have:

* Working knowledge of planning systems

* One or more protected species licenses (Bats and/or great crested newt licences are particularly beneficial)

* A post-graduate degree in Ecology or a closely related field

* Strong team and project management skills

During your time at this exciting Consultant Ecologist role you will be providing colleagues with advice in developments, key contacts and technical aspects of work in the sector. This role will also help you through your progression as an ecologist helping you to obtain protected species licences along the way. You will also have the opportunity to design, plan and undertake a variety of fauna and floral ecological surveys, taking a lead on projects dependent on your individual speciality. You will also be required to produce associated reports on the surveys to a high standard. Once you have become established with in the team you will also have to show awareness of Project management, helping to assist with assembling project teams and managing resources and finances.
