Band 6 - Community Children's Nursing Clinical Trainer & Competence Assessor

Permanent post - 37.5 hours per week (Part-Time may be considered)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurse with post registration experience in paediatrics to join our dynamic team as a Community Children's Nursing Clinical Trainer & Competency Assessor, We care for children with both acute and long term nursing needs many of whom have complex health needs, including palliative and end of life care. We welcome applicants with a positive attitude to change who are looking for an opportunity to develop their existing clinical and teaching skills in providing a full training and competency programme to support individuals who are meeting the complex health needs of children in a variety of community based settings.

This training post provides a great opportunity to work as an autonomous practitioner and to work in collaboration with Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust to ensure county wide consistency and equity of training is delivered to all. You will also work closely with colleagues in health, education, social care and in the private sector, which provides excellent opportunities to develop your skills in multi-agency working.

The post holder will contribute to the nursing on call service within the existing Children's Community Nursing Service to support families and children who may require end of life care as and when this is required. You will also delegate and provide support to junior members of the team and you will be expected to act as a mentor to students undertaking various training programmes.

The post can be physically demanding as you will be expected to travel across Northamptonshire in both town and rural locations to a variety of community based settings, you will be responsible for your own transportation between visits.

The service operates between the hours of 8:00 am and 6.30pm therefore there will be an expectation to be flexible with your work pattern to meet the requirements of the service (this is to include weekends and out of hours duty).

Note: Duties do not include provision of respite/short break care.
