It is an exciting time to come and join the team as a Sonographer within the Ultrasound Department at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking to build our multidisciplinary ultrasound team to include Band 7 Sonographers, with full and part time positions available, working as part of a 7-day service. We are looking for those with a suitable post-graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PgC, PgD, MSc) with a current professional registration.

Our department is passionate at providing an effective and high-quality service. We use state of the art ultrasound equipment (mostly Samsung and GE) and adhere to recommended appointment times advised by the Society and College of Radiographers. We have 3 ultrasound rooms within Clinical Radiology, with additional rooms located in the Antenatal Clinic, Gynaecology, IVF, Rheumatology, the GP and Spinal Unit and peripheral external sites.

We provide ultrasound services for patients from primary care, acute secondary care, and tertiary level services including plastic surgery, spinal rehabilitation and neonatal intensive care.

The team currently undertakes a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations, including Abdominal, Gynaecological, Obstetric, Breast, Musculoskeletal and Head and Neck imaging.

We are a progressive and innovative department and we know the importance of developing individual career pathways. We offer a strong and successful training programme for our student Sonographers with extended practice opportunities available for those joining us with experience. This includes studying to MSc level, and extended roles such as Head and Neck fine needle aspiration, Breast biopsy and our HyCoSy service. We are also happy to support those looking for extended practice opportunities in other specialities.

Our Sonographers are fully supported by a friendly and approachable Consultant body; we proactively encourage peer-review and provide a comprehensive range of internal and fully-funded external CPD opportunities.

GETTING TO WORK

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.

If this job requires you to have DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment, you will be required to replay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed in installments from your salary. Many staff use the DBS update service at a cost of £13 per annum but you need to sign up for this via their website.
