Voted by the Sunday Times as the best place to live in Britain, Salisbury is an attractive place to live and work and really gives you the best of everything. With easy access to London and local airports, Salisbury also has one of the 31 UNESCO world heritage sites in the UK in the form of Stonehenge and in addition boasts a number of museums and famous landmarks which are well worth a visit. Alternatively, the city of Southampton is only a short train or car journey away or if you prefer the sea, Bournemouth is also accessible.

Farley stroke unit is a 30 bedded acute medical ward. We have both hyper acute stroke patients and patients further on in their rehabilitation. The unit also accepts acute neurological patients and patients with acute general medical needs. We work closely with the Emergency department on a daily basis 24/7 who pre alert us to any potential stroke patients on their way in. We meet and assess patients initially in ED and perform essential assessments to meet national stroke guidelines and to deliver high standards of care.

There are lots of opportunities for learning and developing skills on Farley such as; thrombolysis training and swallow assessment training. We aim to assess our patients for a swallow screen and bring them to Farley ward within four hours of admission to ED The unit is very busy as we have two consultant ward rounds a day, also accepting GP admissions.

We are a fantastic, hardworking, supportive team who are looking for both experienced and newly qualified band 5 registered nurses. Nurses can expect a full induction and support in their new role, as well as ward based training. We encourage and support our staff to do any other training that interests them which could be beneficial to our patients and the ward. We aim to support self-rostering and will accommodate where possible all working requests in order to maintain skill mix effectively.

If you're looking for a challenge and ready to gain essential acute nursing skills, then please contact the senior team for an informal visit or shadow shift that would be more than happy to discuss.

Relocation assistance may be available (terms and conditions apply).
