An exciting opportunity due to retirement has arisen within Salisbury Hospice at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust for the post of Lead Nurse/Modern Matron for specialist palliative care. The post is part time 30hrs. The hospice has a ten bedded inpatient unit, day care centre, community team, hospital palliative care team and hospice at home all supported by a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will have responsibility for specialist palliative care at the hospice and across the acute trust in liaison with the Lead Consultant.

We are looking for a dynamic motivated individual who is able to demonstrate strong leadership, managerial, and role modelling skills, acting as clinical support and adviser to the multi-professional team.

The hospice prides itself on having an exceptionally strong cohesive multi-disciplinary team and a positive and innovative culture. You will be accountable for the nursing workforce, delivery and development of nursing care and responsible for the day to day operational planning and with the Lead Consultant the strategic development

Applicants must have substantial experience of working at Band 7 or above, within specialist palliative care

This post will offer the successful candidate a genuine opportunity for personal and professional development as well as being directly involved in leading the strategic direction of the service in collaboration with the Lead Consultant and wider team whilst maintaining and building on clinical, managerial and leadership skills by working within a clinical management model.

We are seeking applicants who must be able to demonstrate high quality clinical skills and a proven track record to lead, supervise and manage staff. Excellent communication skills are also essential.

For this leadership role, the successful candidate will also need to be particularly skilled at creating and maintaining a positive and healthy culture in a challenging environment. The post holder will be closely supported in the role by the Lead Nurse for Medicine and the Lead Consultant in Palliative Medicine.

GETTING TO WORK

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.

If this job requires you to have DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment, you will be required to replay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed in installments from your salary.
