Senior Counsel UKINORJob DescriptionPurpose of the positionBusiness partner to the UKINOR leadership teamIdentify, manage and mitigate legal risk and opportunity in business activities in UKINOR, with a focus on commercial contract drafting/review and advising on routine and operational matters.Legal support to functional teams (Finance, HR, Procurement, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Tax, Corporate, Compliance etc) in EMEASupport on investigations and litigation related mattersSupport the Global Legal Team in providing legal support for legal strategy, key projects and initiativesOther projects as advised by AGC Commercial.Principal responsibilitiesBusiness partner role - advising on legal strategy, support in scoping projects and coordinating local and global teamsProactively managing routine legal matters and being a first point of contact for legal matters within UKINOR businessContract management and ensuring consistent use of template agreements within the business (including without limitation customisation of commercial templates)Legal support to functional teams (Finance, HR, Procurement, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Tax, Corporate, Compliance etc)Support to Third Party Seller programme and distribution channelSupport on litigation and investigationsAssistance with promotional material review and digital media content reviewAssistance on Professional Education and Clinical mattersReporting on and managing legal fees and budget for external counselAssist with management and administrative functions as assigned, including management of the TyMetrix system to track external legal resources and expensesSupport Global Legal team in delivering the Legal training programmeOther work as assigned by AGC Commercial as applicableRequired qualifications/experienceLLB/Bachelor degree from a well-respected institution required as a minimum.Qualified Solicitor in England and WalesPost qualification experience: the role would suit someone with between 5 and 10 years post qualification experience.In house experience would be useful but is not a requirement.Experience in healthcare/pharma/medical devices would be useful.Fluent in written and spoken EnglishAdditional SkillsetStrong legal, analytical, communication and presentation skills for the candidate's level of experienceAble to work autonomously within the role and operate at a senior professional level advising the leadership team and management teams within the businessA keen interest in and ability to understand the business, its strategies, its people and its organisational structuresAbility to work collaboratively with others, both within and outside of Legal team.Strong time management skills coupled with an ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisationGood IT skills requiredSmith & Nephew is a global advanced medical technology business.
