You will support the University to assert its reputation by creating a strong voice for this successful, global research-led university. The role of Deputy Director Communications will be to develop and direct innovative corporate and research communication strategies, powerful internal staff and student engagement and a focused public affairs strategy in order to grow the University's share of voice amongst a broad network of stakeholders in order that we outperform our competitors across the globe. The key areas of strategic focus will be corporate communications, research communications, internal engagement, event management and public affairs as well as ensuring strong account management across the organisation, to deliver customer excellence to the academic and professional services communities.About youWe are looking for an enthusiastic communications strategist who can work closely with our academic community to ensure our ground-breaking research is communicated with impact. With experience of leading communication strategies for large or multi-site global organisations, you will understand the complexities of delivering communications to a broad range of stakeholders and audiences both internally and externally.You will have extensive experience of media relations management with strong connections at a national and international level. You will have confidently embraced new communication technology and channels, including digital editorial and publishing specifically by video, social media and digital platforms. You will combine a creative-eye with operational astuteness in order that we deliver 'experiences' rather than events for our open days, graduation and public lectures.Leadership quality is key to the role as we introduce new ideas to support the University grow its share of voice: to support crisis and reputational management; to provide expert communications and public and governmental affairs advice and guidance to the VC, Leadership Teams, College Leadership Teams; and to support change management.Additional informationIn return for your hard work, we offer a working environment that is committed to inclusivity, through promoting equality and valuing diversity.
