My client is a market leading specialist vehicle manufacturer. Due to continued growth to meet the demands of new and existing projects, the company are seeking to expand their workforce and are looking for a Project Engineer with experience of automotive body structures to join their in-house engineering team. Projects run simultaneously and include both prototype and production builds.

Within this role you will provide technical expertise and project delivery support for products across several programs, and have responsibility for project configuration management. This will include writing technical specifications, testing specifications, and design for manufacture issues are considered during the design stage.

You will need to develop strong working relationships within the business as you will be: leading cross-departmental collaborations; liaising between the Engineering Design Department and the Workshop Team to ensure technical deliverables are achieved; and coordinating prototyping construction and transition from prototype to manufacturing requirements are delivered by Supply Chain through regular liaison and frameworks including Bill Of Materials (BOM).

The Project Engineer will provide support to the Project Manager through preparation of project stage reviews for customers, coordinating prototype construction, and root cause analysis of any issues encountered throughout the project.

Applicants must hold a technical engineering qualification (such as aeronautical, aerospace, automotive, mechanical, vehicles, robotics, etc.). Candidates must also be able to provide evidence of successfully delivering multiple projects simultaneously from concept through to production and have experience of dealing with internal and external customers. Previous use of ERP/MRP systems and project management software tools such as SAP are desirable. A project management qualification such as APMP or Prince 2 and/or business improvement such as LEAN or Six Sigma are considered beneficial but not essential. Candidates with previous project or programme management experience in an automotive / aerospace / vehicle / defence production environment are of particular interest.

Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role. Equally as important is the ability to work well in a team. This role will involve occasional domestic and overseas travel so a driving licence and passport are highly desirable.
