Applications are invited to apply for a Consultant in Clinical Oncology with a special interest in Gynecology and Urology at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post requires a locum to cross cover maternity leave offering a minimum 10 programmed activities. Additional programmed activities may be available but these are subject to annual discussion and agreement and do not form part of the underlying contractual agreement.

Additional programmed activities may be available upon agreement.

The postholder's duties will be primarily at Churchill Hospital, Oxford, and Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post is specialising in Urological cancer and Gynaecology cancer.

Macmillan and Oncology Unit at Milton Keynes University Hospital is purpose built unit with separate Haematology and Oncology areas with 24 treatment chairs and 2 beds in total. 5 clinic rooms and one treatment room. Information support and wellbeing team onsite. Palliative and end of life team and specialist nurse teams connected to the unit. Winter 2019 will see the completion of a new cancer centre at MKUH providing a 24 bedded ward, chemotherapy suite and wellbeing centre to enable treatment for cancer patients under one roof closer to home.

The oncology department in Oxford moved into a new £108M cancer centre in 2009 with 6 Varian linacs, four with CBCT. 4DCT, MRI and PET CT planning is routinely used. The department is one of only 7 selected to deliver SABR for all NHSE CtE indications, along with SRS for brain metastases. Lung SABR has been delivered since 2012 and IMRT is routine for most radically treated patients in the department. Rapid Arc is installed on 3 linacs as well as ExacTrac for the stereotactic programme. Chemotherapy is prescribed using a pan cancer network e-prescribing system (Aria) which is used in Oxford and Milton Keynes.

The department works closely with the University Department of Oncology including the CRUK/MRC Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology, providing excellent opportunities for collaborative radiotherapy research. In 2016, the department was designated an NCRI Established Centre of Excellence in Academic Radiation Oncology (currently only 3 in the UK).
