We are looking for an innovative, well-organised therapist who would like to further develop their existing skills in adult neurology. The successful candidate will hold a degree in Speech and Language Therapy and be registered with the Health Professional's Council. You will be based in Bishop Auckland and be required to work across the whole of County Durham in a wide variety of Community settings, including day hospitals, nursing homes as well as the patients' own homes as well as 0.2wte sessions at University Hospital North Durham.

The successful candidate should have knowledge and skills in the management of acquired communication and swallowing disorders. You will be committed to continuing professional development and have excellent communication and prioritisation skills. You will hold an accredited post-basic dysphagia qualification or able to commit to undertake one.The caseload will initially be selected to match your existing skill set but, with support and regular supervision, allow you to acquire new skills in managing more complex and challenging cases, with peer support from a number of Clinical Leads and Highly Specialist Staff.

The Speech and Language Therapy Service offers a supportive team of experienced colleagues allowing ready-access to support second opinions and ongoing peer supervision to deliver evidence-based practise assessment and therapy to patients across all settings. You will help supervise speech and language therapy students, as well as contribute to the delivery of teaching programmes to a wide range of professionals enhancing patient care.
