It is our vision in East Lothian to provide the best education service in Scotland. We aim to achieve this by working in partnership with the public, voluntary and private sectors to build an East Lothian where everyone has the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life which contributes to a fair and sustainable future. Windygoul Primary School is at the forefront of this ambitious strategy and is at the centre of our vibrant learning community working towards raising attainment and achievement for all. We need an experienced, innovative and determined school leader to play an influential role to ensure that our young people achieve the best educational outcomes. To be successful you will utilise your highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills to inspire and motivate teachers and to continue to build secure and trusting partnerships across the Tranent Community and beyond.

Windygoul Primary School serves the community on the south side of Tranent in East Lothian. The school officially opened in November 2007 as part of East Lothian Council's commitment to providing a learning environment to meet the needs of 21st Century Education.

Windygoul has a diverse school population drawing from a wide demograph. The school population continues to grow, currently standing at 631 primary pupils. There is a morning nursery (70 pupils) and an afternoon nursery (70 pupils). There is also an Authority Behaviour Base within the school which aims to support pupils to rejoin their mainstream class at Windygoul through enhanced support from the base and individualised programmes.

The catchment secondary school is Ross High School and there are nine cluster primary schools in total. As a Cluster, strong links have been made and there is a commitment to work together to support pupils across all of the schools.

As a school community Windygoul strives to realise its vision as a centre of excellence through inclusion, collaboration and community spirit. It is a learning community with shared values where achievements are celebrated and steps for improvement are taken forward through shared dialogue and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for all.
