We are currently recruiting for a Technical Consultant to join our client's well established team based in Totton.

About the role:

Based out of the Technical Design Authority Team, you will be responsible for assisting in the deployment of customers growing infrastructures and the services that the company manages. You'll also provide technical support for escalated issues and tickets that are not able to be resolved within the technical hierarchal structure.

Duties include:
  • Design of Pre-sales for new and existing customers
  • Development of customers growing infrastructures and services
  • Completion of Design documentation in order to aid the ongoing support post implementation
  • Verification of pre-sales documentation for accuracy
  • Training/guidance of installations in order to support post implementation services
  • Develop solutions and Technical Designs for implementation to customers and as responses to customer and tender requirements.
  • Break down large system requirements into manageable parts
  • Research 'off-the-shelf' products to see whether they would be more suitable than building a new system
  • Carry out the implementation of Technical Designs
  • Explain the structure to relevant teams, and help them to support it
  • Develop and carry out testing procedures to make sure everything works properly
  • Make sure that systems meet quality and security standards
  • Keep accurate records of steps and decisions taken
  • Ensure regular progress updates are supplied to interested parties
  • Ensure that all requests are completed within agreed SLA's and that team KPI's are met in line with operating procedures
  • Liaising extensively with external and or internal clients;
  • Analysing clients' existing systems and making recommend improvements;
  • Documenting systems as part of on-boarding the completion of project work;
  • Working closely with colleagues, third parties and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction;
  • Planning and working flexibly to deadlines;
  • Providing training and user manuals to users of a new system;
  • Assist in the Implementation, configure and test new technologies and applications
  • To be part of the On-Call rota.

Core Competencies:
  • Passionate about current and future technologies
  • Technical understanding: Current versions of Windows operating systems , Active Directory, Public Cloud technologies, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Citrix. Certified to MCSE level in the latest product set preferably within Cloud, Datacenter, OEM or Messaging.
  • A working knowledge of virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware VSphere is essential.
  • Demonstrable understanding of technologies like VMware Cloud Foundation or other hybrid cloud technologies.
  • Designing, Implementing, configuring and testing new technologies and applications is essential
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Good Working Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies
  • Willingness to attend training courses and exams based on the certification requirements of the business.
  • Good communicator able to articulate at all levels and are of smart appearance with a positive can do attitude.
  • Self-confident and dedicated to providing a professional level of customer service.
  • Highly organised, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines

In addition to the above skills working knowledge of the following would be beneficial.

  • Cisco UCS
  • Cisco ASA Firewalls
  • HP Networking and IMC
