A well established Charity client are looking for a Finance Assistant for a 14 Month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone with a minimum of 6 months experience looking to get into a Finance Assistant role focusing on the purchase ledger side.

Job purpose

The post holder will be involved in the processing of grant and supplier payments and supporting the administration of payroll function.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • The receipt, review and timely payment of all grant payments requested
  • Liaison with grant processing departments about the payment of grants
  • Data entry on spreadsheets
  • Input and checking of payroll data
  • Match purchase invoices to orders
  • Code invoices to their respective accounts in finance system
  • Input invoices onto the accounting system
  • Deal with queries from suppliers and grantees
  • General filing and administration within the Finance team

Required Knowledge
  • A working knowledge of SUN accounting package would be an advantage

Required Skills/Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of a computerised purchase ledger or payroll environment or an accounting qualification such as AAT (Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping)
  • Ability to understand and deal with numerical data
  • An organised and methodical approach to the management of information, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to prioritise a variety of tasks and deliver work to agreed deadlines
  • Ability to adhere to procedures and understanding of their importance
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills, together with a courteous, flexible and helpful manner with people at all levels
  • Computer literate with a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A good team member who will play a full and co-operative role within the office and liaise effectively with regional offices
  • A demonstrable understanding of equality and diversity
