Are you an experienced Planning Manager who has a good foundation within the engineering environment? Do you like managing a small team? Would you like to work for a company who has expansion plans within the next 12-18 months? Would you like to work in a fast paced environment and drive change?

The role of a Planning and Material Control Manager will report directly into the Head of Supply Chain. You will be responsible for the material planning and supply control function for the business which comprises of planning, supplier engagement and delivery, material control, cost management and reporting.

You will have a critical role to support the best quality materials/parts to the production and ensure the availability is there in a good timely manner.

The role:

• Responsible for material planning and material control, ensuring the right parts are available at the right time to support production, new model introduction ramp up and series production run out.

• Support the definition of the inventory strategy and manage the end-to-end commercial costs and working capital in line with business objectives.

• To lead and motivate both Planning & the Material Control team - supporting Material Controllers to ensure that suppliers remain highly invested and focused on delivery to hit production targets and KPI target achievement.

• Deliver accurate and regular supplier performance and inventory risk reports and forecasts in order to provide maximum transparency for all stakeholders and to drive appropriate performance.

• Point of escalation and leading the resolution of timing & supply constraints and freight issues, parts backorders, supply chain and operational challenges, and general supplier performance issues. All instances to be reviewed and rectification measures to be applied to prevent re-occurrence

• Ensure that suppliers are actively managed and monitored and fully understand Logistics requirements for the short, medium and long-term horizons. Regularly interact with current and potential Suppliers to understand market challenges, opportunities and to assess current performance vs. target. Drive requirement for business improvement plans where required

• Review performance on a frequent basis, identifying and proposing clear recommendations for improvements in operational efficiency and effectiveness.

• Work closely with the strategic sourcing on commercial issues and material cost reduction activities.

To be successful in this role you will need to be educated to a degree level or have practical experience. Minimum of 5 years' experience within an engineering/automotive or aerospace company and ideally managed a small team. Able to work in a fast paced environment and be able to work well under pressure. Have a broad understanding of global logistics/legislation. Have excellent communication skills and have strong negotiation skills. Experience using SAP is a must
