Hours: 37 hours per week (1.0 fte)

Salary: Up to £35,135 per annum (subject to experience and qualifications). Plus generous benefits. These include:

* 55 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)

* Generous Occupational Pension Scheme - employer contribution of 16.48%

* Payment of 100% of your teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) - worth up to £6,000 over 2 years

About the role

The Engineering Division is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced engineer with a background in mechanical engineering, predominately to teach and develop the practical skills of our students. We require an experienced engineer to teach across our Level 2 and 3 Engineering programmes, specifically units from EAL Level 2 PEO and Level 3 Engineering and Technology.

Ideally candidates will have specific experience in machining (both manual and CNC), general mechanical hand skills such as 'fitting and file', general engineering maintenance, and ideally CAD (AutoCAD/Solid works) and possess a minimum of HNC in an Engineering discipline or the equivalent relevant qualification/s and competency.

Previous experience teaching these disciplines in an FE institution would be an advantage, but this is not essential as training will be given to candidates with little or no teaching experience. Applications are welcome from experienced engineers who are wishing to move across into the teaching profession.

Our client provides a centrally managed pastoral support framework for all students across the College. All staff appointed as Tutors will be expected to take on the role of Progress Tutor, which is pivotal to the success of the pastoral support activities at the College. In order to perform this role, time is allocated to the Progress Tutor's timetable as part of their weekly contact time with students, and each Progress Tutor will be responsible for a specific group of students, taking them through their learning pathway at the college.
