The Vascular Surgery service at Nottingham University Hospitals is looking for an enthusiastic and committed surgeon to join the team as a Senior Clinical Fellow. The post is available for one year initially but with the potential to extend by mutual agreement.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious doctor wanting to progress their career and develop their surgical / clinical skills in a large, high-performing vascular surgery service. The NUH Vascular Surgery service sees a high volume of patients with a wide range of vascular conditions. NUH was one of the first trusts in the country to introduce endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms. We have a strong reputation for research and excellent outcomes in aortic and carotid surgery. We offer all major vascular surgery including, but not limited to endovascular and open aortic and thoracic aneurysm repairs, carotid surgery for treatment of transient ischaemic attack, peripheral vascular disease of both upper and lower limbs including the management of chronic diabetic foot disease, arteriovenous malformations, vascular claudication and varicose vein repair.

The successful candidate will join a team of 7 consultant vascular surgeons, 3 vascular trainees and 4 clinical nurse practitioners delivering high quality vascular care in three hospitals across Nottinghamshire. The successful candidate will participate in the registrar on call rota (this does not include overnight) and after a period of induction and orientation will have the opportunity to run some independent day case surgery and outpatient clinics as well as assisting consultants in major vascular procedures like TEVAR, FEVAR and EVARs.

Although this is not a training post, the post holder will receive educational and clinical supervision and will have to teaching opportunities. Participation in departmental audit and research is actively encouraged.

Candidates should have MRCS plus a minimum of 6 years post graduate experience including at least 2 years in Vascular Surgery.

    • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£49 for enhanced and £31 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
