This post is advertised for current employees of University Hospital of North Midlands. We will not consider applications from outside the trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen a spinal practitioner to join the Trauma & Orthopaedics Team at UHNM.

The successful applicant will be a full and active member of the team caring for adult spinal patients with both elective and emergency spine disorders.

Elective duties will include overseeing the care of inpatients and providing a point of contact for enquiries about the management of inpatients and recently discharged patients. There will be an outpatient commitment reviewing post operative patients and potentially new referrals (depending on the skills of the successful applicant).

Emergency duties will also include overseeing the care of inpatients and providing a point of contact. There will be a need to coordinate transfers to and from UHNS and ensure management plans are documented and communicated to patient, GP and other hospitals.

As part of the ongoing commitment to patient care and good practice, the Spine Nurse Practitioner will also ensure that outcome data is collected and e-discharges are completed. Research and teaching opportunities will be available.

The team will encourage and support evolution of the role and the successful applicant will be involved in service development decisions.

Due to the nature of the post the applicant can be from either a nursing or physiotherapy background. They must have excellent communication, time management and organisational skills. They must be competent in the assessment of patients.
