We work in partnership with the Local Authority, General Practitioners and voluntary organisations to provide a wide range of community health services to the people of North Somerset. We are providing NHS services and this will always remain at the heart of what we do but we also have the freedom to bid for other contracts and extend our service to meet the needs of the community.

Our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service has been through an exciting period of re-development. Recently the service has successfully gained funding for additional staffing to match the services increasing demand. We are looking for an Advanced Musculoskeletal Specialist to join our well-established Interface team. The main 'hub' for the service is currently North Somerset Community Hospital with clinics run in several locations across North Somerset.

MSK services form part of the NSCP Specialist Services Business Unit. The department is made up of Musculoskeletal Interface, Biomechanics and Physiotherapy Services offered in various clinic locations in the area, including Portishead, Nailsea and Weston-super-Mare. We are focused on delivering quality, evidence based, cost effective care for the local population. The clinical team includes AMP's, GP with special interests, Podiatrists and physiotherapists supported by a dedicated team of administrators. As part of the AMP team you will work in busy clinics assessing complex spinal and peripheral orthopaedic presentations. You will have the responsibility of arranging further investigations as indicated, providing injection therapy, actioning appropriate onward referrals within referral to treat (RTT) pathways, and providing timely and accurate communication to referrers. We have developed a robust governance framework to ensure the team can deliver the commissioned contract via a quality musculoskeletal pathway with high patient satisfaction and progressive staff development. The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated MSK team to deliver the governance framework, enabling key service goals to be achieved including, audit and research, staff development, clinical pathways and communication. We have a number of staff who are Non-Medical Prescribers and some providing in-house ultrasound guided injections. We are also currently running a commissioned First Contact Practitioner Pilot in a local GP practice, which the whole team will be engaged with in the future.

We are looking for a clinician who is keen to join a developing service, that can provide experience and leadership to further develop the musculoskeletal pathway. This clinician should have significant musculoskeletal experience and be either currently working as an AMP or working towards a Masters with advanced clinical skills to support an AMP role.

NSCP has been awarded Employing Authority status for the NHS Pension Scheme as an Independent Provider. NSCP has been approved under the closed scheme. This means that people joining NSCP on or after 1 August 2014 are eligible to join if within 12 months prior to your start date with NSCP you have been employed by an organisation where you were eligible for the NHS pension, even if you're not currently making contributions.

If you are not eligible for the NHS Pension scheme, you will be eligible for membership of our Legal & General defined contribution Group Pension Scheme. From 1st April 2015 if you have not elected to join either scheme, you will be automatically enrolled into the Group Pension Scheme at 5% and receive employer contributions if you: earn £10,000 or more a year (£833 a month); are aged 22 or over; and; are under State Pension age.
