REED are partnering with a leading global organisation by recruiting for the role of Procurement Category Manager within IT, to be based in Ipswich.

Permanent full time opportunity with working hours of Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (flexible)

The Role

The IT Procurement Category Manager will have a focus on technology consulting suppliers and is responsible for managing sourcing activities & strategies across the business whilst working with our strategic outsourcing Procurement Partners. They will be expected to own the relationships with key senior IT stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor and partner on procurement related matters for the IT organisation.

The IT Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong working relationship with the IT Vendor Management Office, who manages a number of suppliers critical to the day to day running of the company.

Experience of the Ariba sourcing platform is desirable as well as an up to date view of the latest market trends / Software Consulting and Offshore / outsourced partners, including an oversight of the evolving IT 3rd party landscape. Experience of other Procurement category's such as Telecoms and IT Software would also be beneficial but is not necessarily essential.


• Address Software & consultancy spend and vendors for WTW's key consultancy Partners

• To put the interests of clients and the integrity of the market at the heart of the way you do business

• Development an IT Consulting Category Strategy / plan addressing short, mid, and long term business goals and objectives

• Manage key Sourcing processes and negotiate best commercial and contractual terms

• Leadership of high profile IT sourcing initiatives

• Provide support, guidance and direction to other members of the IT Procurement Team

• Strong stakeholder skills

• Proven track record of year on year delivery.

The requirements

Experience in a similar IT procurement role

Strong IT procurement and negotiations of bespoke IT consulting agreements

Both a strategic and analytical mind-set

Creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches to procurement challenges

Change management and self-awareness skills to adopt targeted approaches to a dynamic set of stakeholders

Excellent communication & stakeholder skills

Ability to articulate procurement's value, specifically as an IT Procurement business partner

In-depth knowledge of IT sourcing and procurement principles and best practices

Awareness of SaaS and other IT Licensing structures

Strong IT services contract negotiation experience

Strong negotiation skills

Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
