PWE Healthcare is very pleased to have secured support from HEE NW to offer 2 posts under the Post CCT Fellowship Programme.

The post is available to newly qualified GP's who are within 2 years completion of specialist training and have not as yet taken a substantive post. It will benefit recently qualified GP's enabling them to work across the practice over the period of the fellowship, working with different teams and developing new services.

Fellows will have at least one session per week to undertake professional development.

Given that PWE Healthcare is joint primary and secondary care collaboration, the fellow has access to a wide array of opportunities in primary care, the community and at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT). This allows for us to offer innovative fellowships with opportunities to work across primary and secondary care in almost any area of interest to the successful candidates.

The key features of the job plan are that the fellows should have a mixture of approximately 3-4 general surgeries, 3-4 sessions on particular project work - this can be clinical work, seeing patients with particular problems or developing new ways of working, leadership or research or links with secondary care or a combination of these.

Examples of opportunities include the following:
  • Clinical special interest delivered within secondary care (in any of the specialties available at ELHT) such as breast, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, O&G, paediatrics, ED, acute medicine, respiratory medicine, cardiology, diabetes and endocrine, medicine for older people, stroke medicine, musculoskeletal and palliative medicine. This list is not exhaustive.
  • Leadership roles within ELHT and PWE along with opportunities within the Lancashire & Cumbria ICS.
  • Educational leadership opportunities within the ELHT Education Directorate in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine along with opportunities for leading multidisciplinary learning and workforce development in the workplace across primary and secondary care.
  • Research and Quality improvement opportunities in collaboration with and supported by UCLan or Lancaster University to develop the research interests of the fellow.

Medical Defence costs will be covered by the Practice for the duration of the post.

We are a collaboration of two, large established East Lancashire GP practices and East Lancashire Hospital Trust, looking for new and innovative ways to provide primary healthcare across our 6 Primary Care sites in East Lancashire.
  • The GP post will be within PWE Healthcare (Padiham Medical Centre & Waterfoot Group of Doctors) in one of the following geographical sites:
  • Padham
  • Nelson
  • Rawtensatll
  • Accrington
  • Pendle
  • Brierfield

Come join us:

Here at PWE Healthcare we understand the desire of many GP's to build a portfolio career covering varied interests but with general practice at the heart. If this appeals to you, we are excited to be able to help you begin the next stage of your career.

There will be ongoing opportunities to work with the practice at the end of the Fellowship.
