HMP Woodhill's education department is looking for an experienced Programme / Curriculum Manager to join their Milton Keynes College Offender Learning team to enhance the delivery across their curriculum.

As Programme Manager, you will be dedicated to delivering learning success, through effective leadership within our education team. The vacancy would suit a highly motivated Programme / Curriculum Manager with broad curriculum experience and who has a positive can-do approach to education and the success of their students. The ideal candidate will have experience across a variety of subjects within an overall curriculum and experience managing a team.

Location: HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes, MK4 4DA
Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £28,940 - £34,327 per annum

About HMP Woodhill:

HMPPS Woodhill is a core local prison currently housing both remand and sentenced prisoners of all categories. It is part of the High-Security Estate and will become a Category B training prison in the near future. The Education Department works closely with prison colleagues to ensure the courses delivered are relevant to the prisoners' complex needs, rehabilitation and resettlement.

Courses include: English and Maths Functional Skills (Entry 1 - Level 2), ICT, Art, Music Technology, Food Safety, Health and Safety and a wide range of personal and social development courses. Vocational courses consist of Catering and Hospitality, Painting and Decorating and Kitchen Fitting and Tiling. There is a high take-up of Open University and Distance Learning courses. Over 120 entries have been submitted for the Koestler competition and last year we received 3 Gold, 4 highly commended and 4 commended awards.

Our department believes the opportunities provided for our learners will help to address their offending behaviour and give them the skills to enhance their lives and gain employment on release.

As a successful candidate you will:
  • A degree or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • A teaching qualification (QTLs as appropriate).
  • Assessor/Verifier Awards (desirable).
  • Teaching/training experience in the subject area, along with employability and/or PSD, up-to-date knowledge of these subject areas and employer requirements.
  • Understanding of the necessary employability skills required in the current UK economy.
  • Evidence of providing high quality effective programmes leading to outstanding success.
  • Experience of data analysis.
  • Experience of identifying, developing and sharing resources focused on teaching and learning.
  • Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable).
  • Knowledge of current relevant initiatives within the Offender Learning.
  • The requirement of this role is to work across the whole prison estate, on all wings where education is delivered.
