We have a great opportunity for a suitably qualified Project Engineer to join the team of our well known and respected client in Horncastle. We are looking for a Project Engineer with a "hands on" approach for tackling projects from "retro-filling" through to the addition of new machinery and production lines. Working closely with the Engineering Development Director and the Engineering Manager, together with the Engineering and Manufacturing Teams, the Project Engineer will have a passion for organising and assisting with the delivery of key improvement projects helping to develop and contribute to this exciting, fast growing business. Key Project Engineer responsibilities:
- To organize each identified project including helping to develop the concept, submitting costings for cap-ex purposes, planning a project time-line, hands on project implementation, training and communication throughout.
- Ensure all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental aspects are followed during the engineering aspects of the project.
- Use own strong electrical and mechanical Engineering knowledge to make a robust design and implement long term solutions for optimum performance and length of service.
- Liaise with the Engineering Administrator to ensure that all relevant information, e.g. manuals, risk assessments etc are stored and any training or operational paperwork is created. E.g. TPM Sheets.
- Clear and regular communication from start to finish. Arranging cross functional team meetings on concept design, regular update meetings at identified milestones, updates to wider interested parties.
- Control of installation and implementation including supervision of onsite engineers or external contractors through appropriate risk assessment, permits and other appropriate contractor controls.
- Use Continuous Improvement techniques to ensure that the final solution fits into a Lean Manufacturing methodology and all projects are evaluated through a Plan, Do, Study, Act cycle and further optimised for performance and reliability where required.
Personal specification - Project Engineer:
- Relevant engineering qualification or qualified by experience.
- Self-motivated, methodical, well organised.
- Good communication skills at all levels.
- Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge
- PLC and programming knowledge to enable design and implementation of control systems would be an advantage.
- Good continuous improvement process knowledge to ensure good design and robust solutions
