Carlisle IT has an exciting opportunity available for an Accounts Assistant to join the team. Working for 30 hours per week you'll receive a competitive salary £17,300 per annum.

Our opening hours are 07:00 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday. Hours will be spilt equally over the 4 days but the candidates can choose their start and finish times as long as they are within our opening hours.

The Accounts Assistant Role:

You will work closely with and provide full accounting support to the Director of Operations & Finance

Core responsibilities include purchase ledger administration, credit control, banking and dealing with internal and external customers in relation to invoices and payments.

Responsibilities of becoming our Accounts Assistant:

- Responsible for managing the purchase ledger, ensuring invoices are accurately recorded and payments are timely.

- Obtaining approval for and arranging payments by cheque or BACS

- Assisting with banking, including preparing and processing payments and posting payments and receipts via journals.

- Working with internal and external customers

- Liaising with new suppliers and customers to obtain all necessary details to create new accounts on the SAP 1 system.

- Updating reports to ensure all necessary information is tracked and recorded accurately.

- Tracking return merchandise authorisations, ensuring that all relevant credits are received.

- Contacting customers whose accounts are overdue to arrange immediate payment.

- Working on ad-hoc projects as specified by the Director of Operations & Finance

- Working as part of a team to ensure all general office duties are performed in a timely manner.

- Identify opportunities to improve processes to maximise efficiency and accuracy and reduce risk.

Qualifications and experience needed as our Accounts Assistant:

- 2 years' experience in an accounting role.

- Experience of working with debits, credits and posting journals.

- Ability to provide excellent customer service to and relationship build with internal and external customers.

- Computer literate with a good knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

- First-class ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Proactive approach

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage multiple work streams and systems simultaneously.

- Ability to work under pressure.

- Excellent mathematical skills.

- Ability to learn new systems with ease.

- Problem solving ability.

- Educated to GCSE level

- Experience of working with SAP Business One (desirable)
