Deputy Ward Manager

We have a career opportunity for an experienced registered Mental Health nurse to join our adult acute inpatient service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated nurse who is; committed, caring, compassionate, have good leadership and problem solving skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and a positive attitude to service developments.

The post holder will support the Ward Manager in promoting a positive attitude towards excellent patient care, working in partnership with parents and carers. You will act as a mentor/preceptor and facilitate junior staff's development through teaching and support. You will be required to assist in managing the ward within its allocated resources and to act as a professional role model, ensuring patient safety while maintaining a high standard of clinical care.

We deliver high quality care with the patient/family needs at its core. The deputy ward managers provide clinical leadership and undertake delegated responsibilities for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager. Your professional development will be encouraged and supported.

This service is an integral part of the local adult mental health care pathway and works in partnership with key stakeholders. The post is currently for full time (37.5 Hours) shift work.

As a deputy ward manager you will support the Ward Manager in ensuring the environment is managed safely and effectively over a 24-hour period and to maintain the delivery of high standard of care to Service Users. You will be provided and provide support, supervision and education for colleagues, other professionals and students within the team and the trust. In addition you will support the Ward Manager in developing the team and acting up as when required.

You would remain focused on enabling and empowering staff to deliver high quality patient care, focussed outcomes and identifying barriers to discharge. You must be able to work flexibly and efficiently within the MDT and have excellent communication skills.
