To help us on our journey, we are looking for a Lead Consultant Rheumatologist to join our current team, replacing a member of our team who has recently retired. We are looking for someone who holds an MBBS or equivalent certificate and have full GMC registration, a license to practice and either currently included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of this at the time of appointment. You will be working in an enthusiastic, friendly and self-contained multidisciplinary team comprising of 2 consultants, 1 registrar, 4 specialist Nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

The department treats the full spectrum of rheumatological disease and provides local care for some patients managed jointly with Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge. We also liaise closely with the rheumatology department in Norwich for the treatment of refractory spondyloarthritis and vasculitis. We are part of the Eastern Network for Rare Autoimmune Diseases (ENRAD) that is coordinated from Cambridge and connect with other rheumatology department in region via the East Anglian Rheumatology Society which meets regularly providing CPD and multidisciplinary support.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust is a 488 bed hospital that provides the full complement of associated specialties and diagnostics to support the management of rheumatological patients. You will provide expert opinion and supervision on request for patients admitted under other teams in the hospital.

As well as general clinics, the department runs a rapid access early inflammatory arthritis (EIA) clinic, a paediatric rheumatology clinic, a combined rheumatology/dermatology clinic, a RA annual review clinic and a SpA clinic. The department has its own MSK Ultrasound to assist with the EIA clinic. Moreover, there is DEXA scan capability within the department and we have a dedicated osteoporosis nurse specialist.

This post is offered on a 10PA contract with 7.5 programmed activities for direct clinical care and 2.5PA for supporting professional activities. The job plan will be reviewed after 3 months in post.
