This is a new position within the Corporate Security, Health and Safety and Business Resilience function. The person who will be selected for this role needs to be a highly competent professional that is able to engage and deliver at senior management level.The successful candidate will be responsible for: Ensuring compliance with all internal policies and regulations, along with any external legislation related to Health and Safety, processes and our organisation/internal control systems. The co-ordination of resilience activities throughout the region, utilising management, operational knowledge and interpersonal skills.AccountabilityThis is a managerial position with a number of functions and responsibilities, which will include:Contribute to setting and managing the strategy for Health & Safety and Business Resilience in PearsonEnsure that all policies and regulations, as well as local laws, concerning occupational safety and business resilience are implemented at Pearson.Building and nurturing key business partnerships with key stakeholders at all relevant sites.Providing day to day management of, as well as direction to the business.Support due diligence programs and the audit of critical 3rd party suppliers.Prepare dashboard reports for periodical reporting to executive and audit committee as required.Disseminate knowledge, raise awareness and act as a conduit of information across the remit's H&S and BR community and relevant stakeholders.Act as a point of contact and subject matter expert for relevant business and leadership.The role will require travel throughout the UK and locations in Europe.Health & SafetyEngage across the EMEIA region with all key internal and external stakeholders to continually improve health, safety and resilience performance and culture.Assess and support the continual development of the health and safety strategy through inspections, audits and appropriate improvement actions.Partner and coach site leaders and managers to facilitate the implementation of organisation Health, Safety and Resilience objectives and assurance programs.Provide specialist Health and Safety support to facilitate the implementation of the organisations global policies and procedures. Business ResilienceThe delivery, implementation and management of business continuity management systems for UK business areas. In particular, ensure governance and compliance against the BCM requirements for each location and business function; influencing local partners, standards and strategic direction based upon the corporate BCM policy. Oversee the conducting/review of strategic business impact analysis (BIA) together with the identification and assessment of potential risks to the organisation. Ensure downstream BIAs and subsequent BC/DR plans are created or reviewed accordingly. Ensure documented BC & DR (WAR) plans and crisis communication/incident management capabilities are embedded and exercised. Pearson is an equal opportunities employer. Qualifications Skills & experienceThe ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels, coaching and challenging them to deliver their responsibilities around safety, resilience and risk management.Experience of implementing ISO standards in occupational safety.Competent MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Current knowledge of industry and legislation.Awareness of and aptitude to undertake risk modeling and reporting .Experience in performing 'hands-on' BCM/ITDR reviews and assessments of business operations.3 years experience in a BCM program which includes the development, maintenance and exercising of program artifacts.Qualifications;Degree or equivalent workplace experience and commercial skills.Membership of a recognised Business Continuity Association/Institute.NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) level qualification in Health & Safety.GradIOSH (or equivalent), ideally working towards Chartered Member of IOSH.DesirableExperience in implementing ISO 22301Implementing Business Continuity.Experience in implementing and auditing safety management systems, e.g. OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001.WorkplaceBased at the CHQ, (80 Strand London), with agile work locations in Harlow and from home.#LI-RK1 Primary Location: GB-GB-LondonOther Locations: GB-GB-HarlowWork Locations: GB-London-80 Strand 80 Strand London WC2R 0RLJob: FinanceOrganization: FinanceEmployee Status: Regular EmployeeJob Type: StandardJob Level: ManagerShift: Day JobJob Posting: Apr 21, 2019Job Unposting: OngoingSchedule: Full-time Regular
