IT Portfolio and Resource Manager

Location: Berkshire

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £500-530 per day


Portfolio Management & Resource Allocations
  • Manage and maintain the delivery portfolio for all Continuous Improvement (CI), medium-sized projects, including infrastructure and network change, and major programmes
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Programme Managers in the Delivery Hub as well as the Prioritisation Manager in the Business Relationship Management team to prepare reports and status updates to present to the IT Director - Portfolio Management Office regarding:
    • The status of all change projects/programmes in-flight including the stage in the project life-cycle
    • A forecasted view of the delivery portfolio
    • A view of all as-is utilised resources
    • Forecasted view of resource availability
  • Allocate appropriately skilled resources to projects, programmes or continuous improvement activities based on knowledge of the pool and liaising with the Prioritisation Manager in the Business Relationship Management function to better understand the change and the required skills to deliver it.

Monitoring & Reporting
  • Monitor the performance of the Delivery Hub in its ability to deliver the demand portfolio

Understand the skill set in the pool of resources to ensure correct allocation of resources to projects, programmes or continuous improvement items in the portfolio
  • Escalate risks and issues related to the resource pool capacity early as well as identify resource constraints and opportunities to leverage temporary market resources to support the Delivery Hub in delivering the portfolio.

  • Accurate and timely resource allocation
  • Management and maintenance of the delivery portfolio for the Delivery Hub
  • Allocate resources based on their skills to best support the successful delivery of the demand.


  • Extensive experience of a resource planning and portfolio management role in a multinational organisation
  • Graduate calibre educational background with proven experience at a portfolio level
  • Organised and self-managing, with the ability to anticipate and understand the interdependencies between different functional areas
  • Able to build and maintain strong and effective relationships
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Critical thinker and ability to demonstrate logical approach to problem solving
  • Able to prioritise work and balance competing demands
  • Able to deal with conflict and mediate
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and cope with change.

  • Experience of working within FMCG / Manufacturing / Healthcare / Retail
