Observatory Medical Practice are looking for a new Practice Diabetes Nurse

Job Title: Practice Diabetes Nurse

Hours of work: Between 6 and 12 hours per week

Start Date: Some flexibility but as soon as possible

Reports to: GPs/Operations Manager

Job Summary:

Here is a great opportunity to join the Observatory Medical Practice as we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Practice Diabetes Nurse to join our wonderful Nursing team in a role covering the care of our diabetic patients. We are a long established friendly 11,000 patient practice in a bright new building in the heart of Jericho, a lovely part of Oxford within walking distance of the city centre.

We would like the nurse to work 6-12 hours a week spread over one or two days, but there is of course some flexibility around this. Your main responsibilities will be the routine evidence based care of our diabetic population, including annual reviews incorporating the local prescribing guidelines as well as following up patients with more complex diabetic needs. The practice currently employs the Year of Care approach to this. The ideal candidate would have current Primary Care experience and would be a non-medical prescriber but this is not essential. All of the GPs and practice nursing team will be available for support, and there is a nominated Lead GP for Diabetes.

For the right candidate with prior Practice Nursing experience we would also be looking for a more substantive role with more hours that would combine this Practice Diabetic Nurse role with all other usual treatment room duties eg immunisations, smears, health checks, dressings etc

If you think you might be interested or wish to arrange an informal visit please contact Jon Frank, Business Practice Manager on 01865 429993 for a chat and a cup of coffee or else apply, with CV, via NHS website. Salary to be negotiated and dependent on experience to include indemnity and pension, or could take you on on a self-employed basis if you prefer
