Our client is an established and experienced railway infrastructure contractor with a successful track record of delivering projects across the whole of the UK; working with Network Rail, London Underground as well as light rail and tram operating companies to enhance the national infrastructure.

There is an immediate requirement for a Pway/Track Engineer who has previously acted as CRE to work on a major multi-billion pound mainline scheme in the Norther region.

Job Summary

This role will involve:

- Responsible for ensuring all activities are in compliance with Company standards and procedures.

- Technical assistance to the Production Teams

- Accurate setting out of data provided.

- Checking the integrity of the data either by practical or theoretical means.

- Cross reference the setting out data.

- Supervision of assembly process.

- Technical co-ordination of plant and equipment operations.

- Site measurement for QS purposes.

- Recording data for record and Quality Assurance purposes. ('As Builts').

- Maintaining equipment to good working order.

- Carry out and record periodic checks in line with Company procedures.

- Ensuring equipment is in calibration and certificated.

- Ensuring security and safety of equipment.

- Responsible for operating within the practice and procedures of the quality system.

- Alerting Senior Management, QA Manager to any non-conformance or deficiency in quality, materials, services or workmanship.

- Assist the Engineering Manager in the mentoring and development of Junior Engineering staff.

- Liaison and communication with staff and contractors plus all relevant external contacts as required in order to discharge the duties and responsibilities of this JD/SRS.

- The discharge of these safety critical duties and responsibilities within this JD/SRS and any other safety critical competencies are mandatory upon the post holder.

Job Requirements

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of managing fluctuating workloads, working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines and working off your own initiative. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

To be considered for this role you must have:

- Demonstrable experience of main line track renewals.

- A minimum of an HNC, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering is an essential requirement for this role.

- Excellent knowledge in the use of the latest setting out equipment and the associated tools available.

- Computer literate and working knowledge in Microsoft office applications.

- Demonstrable experience of the implementation of health and safety management processes.

- Effective communication skills

- Ability to operate effectively in the site environment.
