Marketing Assistant job purpose
The Marketing Officers role is to publicise the work of my client and to raise awareness of the benefits of volunteering with them, along with what they achieve within the local community.
Main duties and responsibilities of Marketing Assistant
• Liaising with external organisations in the promotion of the business - this could be by speaking to the manager and leaving posters, leaflets etc.
• Design, distribution and updating of promotional materials for the Core Service and specialist projects.
• Writing press releases.
• Developing links with the local media.
• Writing, designing and collating E-Blast.
• Developing website and keeping content lively and up to date.
• Using social media including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn - keeping lively and up to date.
• Assisting the management team in managing and promoting publicity events.
• Monitoring the success of events held.
• Researching the viability of events e.g. In shopping centres or local events.
• Assist in identifying possible sources of funding in the community such as local businesses, individuals or charitable trusts.
• Review and make recommendations for improvements to services.
• Use IT for statistical recording, record keeping and document production.
• Keep up to date with policies and procedures and undertake appropriate training.
Person specification for Marketing Assistant
* Excellent and effective communication skills, both oral and written with experience in writing press releases and reports.
* Ability to communicate with people at all levels.
* Able to develop links in the community.
* Ability to think laterally about how the business could raise awareness of the work they do.
* A willingness to attend training and other meetings.
* To be able to work as part of a team.
* Enthusiasm and confidence.
* Excellent organisational skills with an ability to monitor and maintain own standards..
* Ability to prioritise own work, meet deadlines and manage caseload.
* Demonstrate understanding of social trends and implications for clients and service provision
