Customer Support Engineer / IT Field Technician


We are looking for a Customer Support Engineer / IT Field Executive to join an industry-leading software provider based just a short walk from Berkhamsted Station. This is an exciting role delivering in-house and on-site support for a leading portfolio of clients.

You will be out visiting clients on average 1-2 days a week, sometimes more, full travel expenses will be covered, and you will get your own company van (for business and personal use).

With outstanding modern offices covering 5,000 square feet, a hugely experienced team made up of Developers, Trainers, Support Analysts and Salespeople, and a vast array of clients, this specialist software provider is delivering state-of-the-art Enterprise Resource Planning solutions for the distribution and wholesale industries. Due to consistent growth they are now seeking a Customer Support Engineer / IT Field Executive to progress their career, ensuring customers get the most from their software solutions.

As the Customer Support Engineer / IT Field Executive you will visit client sites across the UK and provide key IT support (when you're not travelling or visiting client sites, you will provide support from their office in Berkhamsted.) As the Customer Support Engineer, you'll apply your superb customer service skills, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to help and advise clients. Whether you are assessing client IT needs; installing and configuring new equipment (network switches, domain controllers, PCs, etc.); diagnosing IT-related issues or educating users, you will play a key role in ensuring clients receive a first-class service.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an existing Hardware Engineer / IT Support Engineer or similar, who is looking for the next step-up in their career whilst working in a client-facing consultancy role and retaining hands-on technical activities.

To qualify. You could be a Customer Support Engineer / IT Field Executive / Hardware Engineer / IT Support Engineer / IT Field Engineer / Technical Support Engineer / Field Engineer or similar with a CV that demonstrates:

  • An understanding of the following:
    • Active Directory;
    • Server 2012 or newer;
    • Exchange 2010+;
    • DNS / DHCP / vLAN / TCPIP;
    • Networked Printers / scanners;
    • Microsoft SQL Service 2014+.
  • Superb customer service skills, you will be in front of clients on a regular basis, so it is essential you have excellent communication skills;
  • good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Any exposure to Microsoft Azure, Sonicwall or similar commercial grade firewalls would be a bonus.

Due to the nature of the role you will need a full UK Driving Licence.
