Record to Report Accountant

Based at Manchester Airport - with travel to Leeds for the first 3-6 months

Salary between £40,000 - £45,000 (dependent upon experience), plus a great benefits package

MAG also has a substantial property business, with over £525 million of investment property assets across its airports, and has a 70% investment in the £1 billion, 5 million square ft Airport City development at Manchester Airport. Its MAG USA business works with airports to develop and operate terminal and retail solutions, passenger lounges and car parking facilities.

The role:

The Record to Report Accountant is responsible the preparation of management accounts for Looking4Parking and SkyParkSecure, which are car parking price comparison websites recently acquired by MAG.

This is an exciting new opportunity to create and be part of a newly created finance team as the R2R and Transactional Activity is transitioned from the 2 local finance offices in Leeds & Blackpool to Manchester. The Record to Report Accountant will play a key part in transitioning the work and helping develop the new team going forwards to deliver a high standard of service Airport Services finance and management teams.

The Record to Report Accountant will ensure that accurate, and technically robust, management accounts are produced in a timely manner and in line with group finance service levels and support internal and external stakeholders and the meeting of agreed SLA's.

Duties include -
  • Assist the Senior accountant in planning and delivering the month end close process, ensuring the ledgers are all closed to strict deadlines.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the accounts, calculate and post relevant journals to ensure the accounts are reflective of underlying financial performance
  • Provide support in reviewing journal postings and reports produced by R2R assistant accountants
  • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and in a timely manner, including review and sign off.
  • Assist in the service delivery and KPIs to internal and external customers
  • Develop subject expertise by working with the businesses which allows R2R Finance to accurately reflect the nature of commercial and operating agreements in the accounts
  • Provide support, training and guidance to the R2R assistant accountants in your designated team.
  • Support the development of continuous improvement initiatives with the R2R Finance team

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA or QBE) with supervisor and end to end P&L experience
  • An ambitious individual and team player with a "can do" attitude.
  • Proven ability to actively engage business stakeholders and to respond to queries in a collaborative manner.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience of profit and loss and balance sheet
  • Proven ability to efficiently produce and review management accounts (end to end process).
  • Knowledge of best practice processes and expert understanding of key accounting standards
  • Previous experience of training and supporting less experienced members of staff
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to thrive under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations.
  • Significant experience of SAGE and SAP or similar ERP systems, advanced Excel skills.
