An opportunity has arisen within our Legal Department for a Legal Administrator. The Legal Department assists the business in respect of its legal needs which are varied and extensive.The team is central to the business and advise at every level from the Board to members of Chess' customer facing teams.

The Legal Department is the back stop of the business in terms of recovering monies, but they can be involved at all stages to avoid disputes arising and to facilitate early dispute resolution. It also provides assistance on commercial and acquisition matters.

The successful candidate will be based in our offices in Alderley Edge and will report directly to the Head of Legal.

Duties to include but not restricted to:
  • Taking incoming calls and monitoring the Legal Department email inbox
  • Monitoring, chasing and administering payments due to Chess pursuant to settlement agreements and/or payment plans
  • Instructing High Court Enforcement Officers and Bailiffs to enforce judgments, logging updates received and administering payments
  • Sending Pre Action Correspondence
  • Preparation of transcripts of call recordings and collation of evidence under the direction of a member of the Legal Department
  • Matter opening and archiving and allocation of cases and tasks to members of the Legal Department under the direction of the Head of Legal
  • Updating internal systems including CRM systems, SAGE and ledgers and spot checking as required
  • General administrative duties such as copying, scanning filing, archiving, post, processing and setting up meetings

Skills & Qualities you will need to demonstrate:
  • Proven ability to undertake general administrative duties
  • Strong IT skills (including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and case management systems)
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Good time management
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Attention to detail

Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency in SAGE 200
  • A proven ability to provide administrative support as part of a team in a legal environment

Package Details:

Basic salary: Up to £17,500 depending on experience

Hours: 37½ hours per week Monday to Friday, normal office hours apply.

Holiday Allowance: 20 days paid holiday p.a. increased upon anniversaries, ultimately to 24 days p.a., plus public holidays
