Financial Accountant

£38,000- £42,000 plus benefits

We're looking for a financial accountant to join our central financial control team and help to drive continuous improvement in accounting and financial control across our businesses. A key focus will be to provide financial accounting support and appropriate financial control for our support centre.

You'll also play a key role in ensuring consistent accounting practices and high standards across all Co-op businesses by producing timely and accurate information and proactively supporting the businesses. What you'll do

• act as the main contact for financial accounting support for our support centre within the financial control team

• produce a variety of high quality balance sheet control account reconciliations for the support centre ensuring robust control of the corporate balance sheet is maintained

• produce statutory accounts for various subsidiaries including co-ordination of tax pack info

• support the production of annual accounts at interim and year-end

• produce monthly finance pack for our in-house self-insurance team

• work with the wider financial accounting team to continually drive process improvements and standards in financial control across the business (covering areas such as VAT and asset impairment models)

This role would suit people who have

• an accountancy qualification i.e. ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent

• experience of producing statutory accounts under IFRS and UK GAAP

• strong excel skills with the ability to manage large quantities of data

• the ability to communicate with and draw information from various internal colleagues

• good time management skills, able to manage their own workload and meet tight deadlines

• experience working in a large complex business, with large quantities of data would be an advantage
