To manage and implement the Internal Assessment Process:

It is a requirement within Leonardo MW Ltd that regular assessments and subsequent management of any findings are undertaken on a routine and planned manner in order to satisfy any customer and certification and regulatory approval (typically ISO9001, AS9100, MAOS, DAOS etc.) Requirements and to also drive business improvements, process compliance.

Supports the identification and management of business risks and opportunities within the applicable divisions operating within the business.

Limited UK and International travel may be required

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Support and attendance at the UK A&C council
  • Input to the development of the UK Certification Body/Regulator assessment schedule
  • Co-ordination of the divisional communications and pre assessment reviews
  • Identify and co-ordination the Certification Body/Regulator site assessment reviews, assessors and shadows
  • Offer assurance advice and assistance within their allocated area
  • Timely response for containment, correction and corrective actions to any Certification Body / Regulator NCR's
  • Timely inputs to the Assessment & Certification monthly reports
  • Contribution to the delivery of product to agreed time, cost and quality standards. (Internal)
  • Contribution to the delivery of product to agreed time, cost and quality standards. (Customer)
  • Contribution to IPT on Business risks in support of projects where appropriate.
  • Adherence to agreed software/firmware quality standards.
  • Adherence to internal and external procedures.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation.
  • Feedback from internal/external customers.
  • Appropriate, relevant and timely communication.
  • Ownership of and development of appropriate and timely solutions.

Line of Business:
  • Manage assessment schedules and planning within the company EMIT planning tool with up to date maintenance
  • Monitor performance against assessment schedules and re-plan as necessary
  • Provide support, guidance and training to assessment staff where required.
  • Monitoring of assessment non-conformance closure including Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Verification.
  • Conduct internal assessments
  • Produce assessment performance reports including:
  • Adherence to assessment schedules.
  • Details of internal assessment non-conformances.
  • Timely clearance of assessment non-conformances.
  • Identification of any business risks.
  • Non-conformance trend analysis.
  • Details of external assessment non-conformances.
  • Management and local leadership of external certification and/or customer assessments including acting as assessment guide.
  • Identify improvement opportunities from assessments

UK and Division:
  • Member of the UK Assessment & Certification Council representing their Line of Business
  • Escalation of divisional Assessment & Certification issues to the UK council
  • Assessment & Certification reports into UK Audit and Certification Lead & LoB's
  • Support the Certification Body / Regulator Planning & Follow up
  • Host Certification Body / Regulator during the AS9100 assessment
  • Communicate the Certification Body / Regulator requirements and schedule to the business
  • Support the Process Owners prior to, during and after the scheduled assessments
  • Work with the Process Owners to address any findings
  • Work with the Process owners to Collate the supporting Objective evidence.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
  • Ideally Lead Assessor certified
  • Experienced at managing and implementing Internal Assessments within the Defence Industry
  • Ability to manage and lead cross functional teams
  • Ability to communicate and report at all levels within the business
  • Experienced in the Non Conformance Lifecycle including Root Cause Analysis
  • Experience of the AS9100 QMS standard and its implementation within the Defence Industry
  • Ability to manage 3rd party and customer assessments to conclusion
  • Experience of risk and opportunity management
