Customer Experience & Sales Development (CESD) is key to the Global Commercial Banking (CMB) Strategic Business Objectives Programme (SBO), charged with defining, developing and implementing “new-state” internal sales strategy and capabilities (digital/technology sales capability enhancements and development of CMB’s sales culture) and redefining the customer experience across all touch-points to deliver competitive advantage and enhance CMB’s unique global positioning.

The Senior Business Partner will report to the Director of Customer Intelligence based in UK, with alignment to the Director of Customer Intelligence (BIG) based in Hong Kong, this is a key senior manager position responsible for shaping the development of CMB Actionable Intelligence (CMB AI), AI Triggers and other functionalities and processes under Customer Intelligence, sitting within the newly created Customer Experience & Sales Development (CESD) framework.

The Senior Business Partner role will engage with various stakeholders from different parts of CMB business to solicit business requirements and new ideas for the enhancement and expansion of CMB’s AI platform and AI triggers.  They will act as the communication bridge between business stakeholders and the Customer Intelligence Analytics and Strategic delivery teams and will participate in the initial designs of various aspects of CMB AI, with the mandate to ensure enhancements and triggers are designed to fit for purpose and built according to agreed specifications.  Their daily operations will involve engagement with business stakeholders, including CMB senior management team, Global/ Regional/ Country CMB COO teams (e.g. Chief Accounting Office, Chief Commercial Office, Business Financial Crime Risk), Regional/ Country Business Analytics teams, Product teams (e.g. Global Trade and Receivables Finance, Global Markets, Investments, Insurance), Client Coverage, Client Network Banking, Wholesale Credit Risk, Financial Crime Compliance & Financial Crime Threat Mitigation etc.

The Senior Business Partner will be accountable for ensuring that all activity supports sustainable growth, and improved process/ automation in a responsible way to meet regulatory and customer needs. The role is critical to the Global CMB Strategy for the CESD function to fulfil the Global CMB SBO requirements.

The successful candidate will be a graduate and will have the following attributes:

  • University degree in relevant disciplines.
  • Substantial experience, preferably some from Commercial Banking, Global Banking or Product Sales client-facing roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Proven ability to identify business problems, analyze root causes and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills. Ability to navigate within the organization.
  • Profound understanding of Commercial Banking business from a Regional or Global perspective. Good understanding of various CMB products (e.g. GTRF, GLCM, GM, Insurance, Investments, etc.).
  • Solid technical skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Strong team player.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
