The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, the business is currently looking for an experienced Quality to join the team. The position is responsible for managing the quality assurance function covering both imported and manufactured components. This person will also have the responsibility for the running and ensuring all imported components are inspected, tested and despatched on-time to customers. The industry is fast paced, knowledge must be applied in a commercial way to achieve KIP's and improve business performance.

Day to day:

* Management of 3 Quality staff. Be responsible for the recruitment, personal development and performance review of your direct team. This includes managing the recording of training records for the team and holding of regular KPI meetings.

* Be responsible for the maintenance and development of the quality system which is based on the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015. This includes being responsible for promoting, maintaining and developing quality practises and systems.

* Be the main source of contact for customer's non-conformance. Visit customers and suppliers to address quality issues. This may involve accompanying the sales and operational teams and providing quality support.

* Hosting of customer and 3rd party audits and organising the completion of planned internal audits.

* Ensure systems are in place to manage approved suppliers. Arrange supplier audits to assess quality standards and close out of non-conformances. This includes foreign travel.

* Attend and support APQP/ sample production process. Respond to quality enquires and co-ordinate assessment of measurement requirements, gauges and inspection fixtures.

* Oversee inspection of first off samples, ensuring approvals is received from the customer and given to the supplier.

* Be responsible for producing 8D reports, FMEA's, control plans, PPAP's and full traceability certification to meet customer requirements.

* Manage the calibration program for all measurement equipment.

* Report on all Key KPI's for the quality and trading - E, H&S, Quality, Delivery, Budgets, Lead-times and Projects (cost and timescales). Update senior management team on the effectiveness of the quality management system.


* Quality assurance systems experience

* Managerial experience

* Inspection and machining experience

* Drawing and measurement - read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and have a solid understanding of engineering principles.

* Team leader experience8D problem-solving experience - customers, internal and suppliers

* Auditing experience - Customer, internal and suppliers

* Commercial and business awareness

* Understand lean manufacturing principles and demonstrate continuous improvement activity

* Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience - planning, quality, methods and stock control computer - Immediate excel, word etc.


* Minimum HNC in (Design Engineer/Mechanical Engineering

* Recognised Quality Assurance qualification
