Production Team Leader
Location: Southminster, Essex CM0 7EQ
Salary: Competitive
Contract: Full time, 45 hours per week
Europlaz Technologies Ltd are a medical device contract manufacturer supplying finished devices, services and support to medical device manufacturers around the world. We develop, design and manufacture a broad range of medical products and have state of the art injection moulding and cleanroom assembly facilities.
Headquartered in Essex, an hour from East London, we offer an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to help the company reach our ambitious goals.
Main purpose of the job:
To oversee clean room production on all jobs within the responsibility area. The Team Leader is responsible for all aspects of product output including materials, quality, output, scrap, training and staffing issues
Key responsibilities:
Quality
• Quality inspection of current production in area of responsibility on a two-hourly basis
• Ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed
• Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices
• Completion of documentation such as Job Cards, Inspection and Reject records
• Dimensional Inspection of mouldings as per quality documentation using hand measuring tools or the Starlight / Starrett measuring machine
• Visually checking mouldings for quality issues / functional defects
• Resolve quality issues that may occur
Production
• Keeping track of batches for production and storage (Assembled + Sub assembled product)
• Liaison with the Setter Team around issues that affect production / quality
• Ensure the team are achieving daily and long-term goals, while monitoring and managing their progress and performance
• Drive continuous improvement in the work area
• Assist management with queries around production/quality
• Setting up of assembly / production lines, ensuring the correct equipment is available for operators
Stock
• Booking in components on the MRP system as well as booking in completed works orders
• Managing stock movements on the MRP system
People Management
• Ensure Health and safety standards are being met in production areas
• Manage team members concerns (holidays / sickness / other absence)
• Management of performance and discipline within the team. This includes record keeping, disciplinary investigations and meetings
• Manage team for any personal issues. Checking on their own wellbeing
• Work with the HR Department on the recruitment of new Operators
• Training staff on new jobs and ensuring proper training documentation is completed
• Support fellow team leaders in the role. Assisting with quality and covering for holidays/absences
• Attend various production meetings on a regular basis - daily / weekly
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read, understand and work with detailed visual aids such as method layouts, detailed diagrams, process flow sheets and related assembly documentation
• Ability to use various hand tools and power assisted assembly tools that are common to the medical device industry
• Ability to demonstrate a record of excellent performance in meeting high standards of quality, quantity and dependability
• Ability to provide concentrated visual and mental attention
• Previous experience in a similar line leadership role would be advantageous
Working hours / Pattern
Full time, 45 hours per week. Working pattern is 7:30- 17:30 Monday to Thursday and 7:30 - 15:00 on Fridays. Work is performed in a Clean Room environment with specialist clothing and quality procedures in place.
Direct Reports:
Around 10-15 production operators would typically report to one team leader
Training Requirements
Ideally a Team Leader will have either completed or be willing to undertake an Apprenticeship in Team Leadership with our designated training provider. Alternatively, they should hold a similar qualification and / or previous experience in a similar role.
In addition, Team Leaders require training on the Europlaz MRP system and detailed training in quality procedures, work instructions and HR procedures. The majority of this training will be completed on the job.
