The Company:

A highly successful and profitable division of a FTSE listed support services organisation. The business specialises in the provision of learning and development services across multiple sectors and is regarded as a market leader. The role will move between offices in Reading & Birmingham so it is important that you can easily access both.

The Role:

Reporting to the COO you will have team leadership responsibilities and will lead relationships with client teams, clients and other internal and external stakeholders, to enhance the direction of the department and grow the team's capabilities, operating performance and market positioning.

It is imperative that you take a proactive, strategic approach to supplier management rather than being reactive.

Key responsibilities will include;
  • To lead and be held accountable for the strategic direction of Supplier Management, ensuring all activity complements the market direction and end to end tactical and strategic sourcing activities as part of the target operating model.
  • Be further accountable for complexities that may arise in contract negotiations, commercial activity, and the impact of the department on the performance of the business and wider supplier interaction.
  • Oversee the supplier life cycle of all assigned services & products - aligning to businesses strategic aims and market relevance
  • Define why and what supplier products & services the business has or should have in the marketplace to prioritise activities and resources
  • Shape the "value" of the supplier proposition built on effective strategies that listen to clients, partners and market so that the business understands what "value" looks like ensuring the business's relevance in the marketplace.

The Candidate:

As the ideal candidate you will have held a similar position before in a service orientated business of significant size and will be MCIPS qualified or studying towards MCIPS (or demonstrable equivalent experience).

You must have excellent people skills and the ability to manage multi-level relationships. You will have experience of developing "value add" supplier relationships with a strong commercial approach.
