Role Overview
We are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join our Container Logistics business in Felixstowe on a 6 month fixed term contract.

This role deals mainly with the financial management and reporting for the Operational Managers and their sites within Wincanton Container Logistics. As a Finance Manager, you will develop a close network within the business and you will illustrate the role played by each depot in the financial success of Wincanton Containers.

Over time this will play a pivotal part in the future development and growth of the business.

The role will incur some travel within the Wincanton Container sites in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Partnering the operational leadership team to deliver a specialist service, both communicating with & supporting each depot and the Container Network.
  • Inspiring and developing financial best practice to support the Containers Network approach. Producing insight to drive improved financial performance.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of financial records and supporting monthly reconciliations. Investigate, analyse and explain significant variances to operational costs, weekly
  • To ensure the production of reports as required by the operational business including weekly detailed trading reports.
  • Supporting with the monthly and year end accounts, to ensure they are closed accurately and on time for each of the operational depots.
  • Planning for and preparing operational budgets - monitoring and reporting monthly.
  • Liaising with the Customer Service Unit so as to understand the financial implications of each client relationship and any possible impact on operational depots.
  • Building robust relationships with the Containers HR and Commercial teams so as to forecast expenditure and limit the impact of changes to projected costs.
  • Continuous improvement of central and local reporting processes and procedures, which support robust business decision making.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience in a financial leadership role-Essential
  • Experience of supporting a field based operational business-Desirable
  • Detailed and up to date knowledge of good financial practice-Desirable (Tax, credit control, purchase ledger and sales ledger management)
  • Experience of working in the transport or haulage industry-Desirable
  • Good oral and written communication skills which are effective and persuasive
  • Robust influencing skills-essential
  • Experience of successful negotiation
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritise work ensuring all reasonable deadlines are met
  • Graduate calibre or relevant experience
  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA) or Part-qualified working towards your qualification
