Our superb retail-based client is seeking to recruit a Shop Manager to join them. There is one role in Haywards Heath, and one based in Lindfield.
Job summary:
To be responsible for the day-to-day running and management of the Shop. To optimise sales, maintain effective stock levels and ensure that the goods are merchandised effectively and attractively. To be responsible for shop administration. To manage the staff and volunteers and develop the team by recruiting new volunteers and ensuring that appropriate training and support is provided. To ensure that the shop is run in accordance with established policies and procedures and that legal requirements are met. To provide holiday/sickness cover for other shops as may be required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* To carry out daily banking and to complete and submit weekly and monthly income reports to the Head of Retail and to carry out required administrative tasks and maintain necessary files and records.
* To achieve income targets set by the Head of Retail.
* To maximise Gift Aid by ensuring that donors are asked to Gift Aid their donations and to ensure that the required forms are completed and that goods are accurately labelled.
* To ensure that all goods donated are stored neatly and safely until collected and to keep the stock room clean and organised methodically.
* To help sort donations at central warehouse on a weekly basis and select stock for the shop.
* To take accurate details of people wishing to donate furniture or who purchase furniture and to pass these onto the appropriate person who organises schedules for viewings, collections and deliveries in accordance with the agreed procedures.
* To ensure that the shop is always well stocked with appropriate good quality items and that the stock is rotated in accordance with Shop policy. This will involve moving heavy items on a regular basis.
* To maintain the weekly rotas to ensure that the shop is always adequately staffed.
* To ensure that high standards of presentation are met with attractive displays of products and that the premises are kept clean and tidy.
* To maintain a safe and tidy working environment always, ensuring that health and safety regulations are adhered to.
* To work with the Head of Retail and the Volunteer Services Co-ordinator to recruit and to provide appropriate induction and job training for new and existing volunteers.
* To provide day to day support and guidance for volunteers in undertaking their role, ensuring that they receive appropriate training in all operational procedures.
* To ensure that volunteers are occupied and that duties are delegated to them appropriately.
* To attend regular team and one to one meeting at company base.
* To provide holiday/sickness cover for the other shops as required.
