Finance Manager (Interim) - Spider are advertising on behalf of a well-respected family-run business in the recycling industry in their search for an experienced Finance Manager on the outskirts of Ipswich in Great Blakenham. The role is for a 4 month period from end of June 2019.

The Finance Manager (Interim) will assist the Finance Director in managing, processing and troubleshooting the day to day financial activity of the business as well as meeting monthly financial deadlines. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the Finance Assistant and their daily workflows. The other key responsibilities are:
  • Overseeing the sales, purchase and nominal ledger function to trial balance level.
  • Processing weekly and monthly staff payroll, managing & analysing outsourced labour costs. PAYE returns and pension scheme deductions.
  • Assist with product and project costings.
  • Process and prepare financial and business reports for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc.
  • Posting & Authorising of purchase invoices and credit notes and raising Purchase Orders using Sage Line 50
  • Perform routine calculations to produce analysis and reports as requested by the Director of Finance
  • Perform regular credit control exercises to ensure timely receipt of overdue monies
  • Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets
  • Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct
  • Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with other departments or clients
  • Adhere to the Company's financial policies and procedures
  • Answer questions, raise queries and provide assistance to customers and clients as required
  • Attend finance meetings, sometimes assisting with financial reporting to managers and senior executives
  • Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.

Skills and Attributes:
  • Previous experience of managing a finance team is essential as well as a good level of confidence with Sage Line 50, Microsoft Excel & Outlook.
  • Hands on approach to team work and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Good understanding of new data privacy standards (GDPR)
  • Excellent customer-service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with family business principles and practices an advantage but not essential
  • Good level of adaptability to unplanned changes in workload and deadlines
  • Superior attention to detail, good organisational & planning skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, mathematical, analytical as well as critical thinking skills

A competitive salary is on offer of circa £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. Working 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.15pm. Holiday entitlement is 20 days per annum plus Bank Holidays. Due to the location of the client will require own transport and free parking is provided.
