A well established through age SEN school in Harrogate is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. They are looking to find someone who can work with their students flexibility and efficiently. The role will require a strong understanding of special schools, team teach training, and be able to support the students with both their learning and their social-emotional needs. The school accommodates for pupils with SEND diagnoses, SEMH and SEBD needs who struggle to access mainstream education. Working with vulnerable SEN student is very rewarding. Watching your student grow and reach their goals with your help is very fulfilling. The successful applicant will have a patient and caring disposition; with the ability quickly build meaningful relationships with students and their staff team.

Team teach training opportunities

The role will include:

Supporting the student with educational needs in class, as well as with their social/emotional needs throughout the day

Manage behaviour in line with the schools behaviour policy

Work proactively with other team members including the class teacher, other teaching assistants, and support staff

Ensure the safeguarding of all students


Experience of working with young people with SEMH/SEBD needs or vulnerable young people

Be comfortable in managing challenging behaviour and confident in your ability to control it

Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people

Be creative, proactive and flexible in their supporting style

To be able to provide a nurturing and caring connection with the vulnerable student
