Production and Engineering Manager

£35-45,000 (dependant on experience) + bonus + benefits + pension.Precision Engineering Company, Cheltenham.

Reporting into the Managing Director the Production and Engineering Manager will be a key member of the team and as such will be highly valued and rewarded as the business continues to expand.

The Company:is a young, well-funded precision engineering company with a reputation for innovation and technical excellence and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.Utilising the latest, state-of-the-art machinery they have a large milling and turning capacity, often producing larger items for heavy engineering companies and those making automated machinery.They provide an exceptional service to clients, both direct and as a subcontractor, across a wide range of sectors including automotive, pharmaceutical, aerospace, defence and oil and gas.

Production and Engineering Manager, Responsibilities:
  • Management of the shop floor with responsibility for quality, production, maintenance, health and safety, tooling and rectifying drawing issues.
  • Team Management with responsibility for performance, appraisals, and creating a harmonious working environment.
  • Setting weekly/monthly output levels and organising work flow.
  • Understanding capacity levels and identifying any clashes or shortfalls in work before they happen.
  • Setting and managing overtime/shift levels (liaison with senior management) and staff holiday booking and arranging cover accordingly.
  • Creating and implementing training programmes to 'upskill' staff.
  • Helping to resolve manufacturing problems on the shop floor.
  • Liaise and assist with customers and estimating, to include learning manufacturing processes on more complex work.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and implementing manufacturing efficiencies.

Production and Engineering Manager, Skills and Experience:
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and machining processes with a CNC background.
  • Experience of planning and organising production schedules in an engineering environment
  • Experience of successfully managing and motivating teams.
  • A proactive team player, with a positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Knowledge and experience of using MRP/ERP systems.
