We're looking for several workers for 'Job Coach' style role based in the Bedford area. For this you will need to be a car driver as you will be required to travel around to various locations. This will be 1:1 with students on work placement for approx 3 days a week, and the other 2 days you will be working within the college itself.

Responsibilities

* develop learner's independence

* students require a lot of social/emotional/pastoral support particularly within their peers

* to deliver a high standard of support for learners with additional learning support needs on a 1:1 basis

* develop learner's English and Maths skills

* ability to keep students on task and engaged

* adhere to and implement student behaviour plans/ behaviour strategies

Requirements for this role

* caring, understanding with a real desire to support young people

* understanding of what a 'person centred approach' means

* good written and verbal communication skills

* be able to work under own initiative

* a proactive and "common sense approach"

* ability to communicate effectively with students and their peers

* ability to understand the concept of "support" in education being different to "care"

* ability to manage stressful situations

* be able to support students who may experience challenging behaviour and / or emotional difficulties

* a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) will be carried out
