You the Merchandiser (Wholesale) will report into the Head of Merchandising and head of department and your role will include, managing a number of Assistant Merchandisers and working cross functionally with warehousing, shipping, finance and the sales team to optimise sales and margin, while ensuring high levels of customer service are achieved.

Description
  • Provide the wider team with analysis by Brand and/or Customer by season, feeding the results into the Range plan and providing forecasted sales by line that achieve the budgeted sales and margin; setting target margins for the buying team to facilitate this
  • To work with the wider team in planning from concept to end delivery the most commercial and fashionable ranges that are the right products for the brands within the company. Ensure the right delivery date, pricing architecture and desired margin has been agreed between all parties to maximise sales and profits.
  • Develop detailed sales and margin budgets by Brand and Customer liaising with the sales teams to ensure that the most accurate information to cover sales, agents' commissions, margin and intake are considered
  • Key decision maker and problem solver for the department with the support of Senior Management.
  • Ensure all brand strategies are executed in line with the overall business needs and communicate these to the wider team
  • Full understanding of customer needs to maximise sales and margin
  • Maintain and manage the WSSI and OTB identifying any existing or potential stock issues and presenting a strategy to Senior Management to manage and resolve any negative stock positions for the business
  • Management of team - Responsible for the management of your team, their workload, development and morale. Undergo job chats with the team to monitor and manage their progress. Set clear SMART objectives and coach them daily to grow their knowledge and skills to be able achieve their objectives.
  • Ensure that the junior merchandising team are building strong relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Buy Process - Working with the sales team and customer requirements ensure OTB is not exceeded and any upsides or downsides to budgets are highlighted to Senior Management and the Sales Team
  • Continuously re-forecast sales and intake on a weekly basis to ensure deliveries are on time and budgeted sales and margins are achieved. Highlighting any anomalies to the relevant parties and Senior Management
  • Oversee line card management in line with budgeted sales, margin and intake
  • Work alongside shipping and warehousing to plan container consolidation and warehouse intake, reviewing against allocated capacity in the warehouse
  • Continually re-phase intake budgets to sit alongside the sales and margin providing to Accounts when required and escalating and significant changes to Senior Management
  • Stock - For any slow selling or obsolete stock lines communicate a strategy to Senior management including any detailed exit strategies and promotions

Profile
  • Working as a merchandiser in a wholesale or retail business
  • Advance excel skills
  • Experience of managing junior merchandising team members
  • Experience of working with retailers
  • Experience of Managing a WSSI
